New Year

 

The new year has come and gone and we’re now at the start of our second week in 2013. Woohoo. I quit my job and went to Disneyland! This is all true I swear. I will start a new beginning at the end of this week  as a merchandising assistant for an awesome accessories company. Things are looking good so far.  Some things to look forward to this year are, The Kubrick Exhibit at LACMA, The Oscars-did you see The Master? I’m routing for Joaquin, watching the film Not Fade Away and turning 30.  Best of wishes to all for a memorable and grand 2013.

The Mulleavy Sisters can’t get any cooler now can they? They’ve done a whole lot lately like designing a wedding dress for Natalie Portman, costume design for Mozart Don Giovanni and creating a stir amongst someone who found the Australian “aboriginal” inspiration behind their 2012 fall collection offensive. What is aboriginal one might ask? If you don’t know you can read about it here.  I find their collection dreamy.

Did you miss The Kills this past week  in Los Angeles  and now hate yourself for doing so? Did you also realize that you missed their book signing for their  luxury photography book titled Dream and Drive? The book displays images of the bands past 9 years together taken by photographer Kenneth Cappello.  This is going to be one influential photo book that not only documents the bands coolness but their badass fashion as well!  You can get it yourself here!

Star Nikki Lane is a girl whose got southern soul and dresses to kill. Her sultry voice and muscle car attitude will make you want to be her best friend. She’s currently at SXSW and has taken her vintage boutique High Class Hillbilly on the road with her.  Miss Lane has been focusing on her boutique and will give us all a chance to buy her stylish picks. Since her shop may be out hands for most of us right now, check out her recent music video for the song “Lies”. If you like it, its on her album Walk Of Shame that debuted last fall.

The Oscars are all about glam and beauty so its no surprise that tonight is one of the biggest nights in fashion! Although I could’nt be on the red carpet but wish I were, I want to share my favorites of the night.  I saw lots of rouges worn by Natalie Portman, Emma Stone and Michelle Williams and lots of golds and shimmers.
